Reba Amoeba

My name is Valerie.
I'm 28 and I live in Georgia.
The state, not the country.
I like black coffee, cardigans, beer, Mad Men, burnt hot dogs, nail polish, bourbon on the rocks, Robert Downey Jr., bloody steaks, spending money I don't have, The Avett Brothers, and my awesome husband.

If you follow me, you'll hear a lot about my awesome life, which includes things I eat and drink, running, pictures of my hastily thrown together outfits, random bitching, and things I find funny.

Enjoy my tumblr with a side of bacon.

ohheyychrissy asked: Please tell me all you learned in NoLa. Where do we eat? What do we see? Where do we drink? What do I wear?

  • We had a short trip and did the required cafe au lait/beignet run to Cafe du Monde in the French Market. Definitely make sure to do that! We had a pretty short trip so we didn’t really get to go to a lot of places. We ate dinner at Cochon, which was delicious (cajun soul food), and at another random place in the Garden District called Mia’s, which was yummy as well. You can’t really go wrong, everything we had was great. We got po boys at a place called Nola Grocery, which pretty much looked like a dump (it was a quickie store and the canned good shelf looked like it hadn’t been stocked since 2008) but had DELICIOUS food.
  • If you’re near the Garden District, check out Avenue Pub for beers. Their happy hour is dirt cheap (we got four 16 oz. beers for $13.50 total) and they have a huge beer selection. And it’s a pretty chill bar.
  • In the French quarter, wear comfortable shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. There’s lots of uneven road and uh….vomit.
  • Wear airy clothes that won’t stick to your skin, because it’s humid!
That’s my two cents from the two days we spent there. Have fun!
